May 12, 2017

Today was cold, and wet.  We met some people last night and had them over for dock drinks
and decided to Uber to the Maritime Museum today and check it out.  It was well worth it.
There were over 35,000 exhibits on display and parts of the Monitor that fought in the Civil War.
There were all kinds of boats, models, miniature boat models and interesting items.  We spent
several hours exploring and staying warm and dry.  I think there was even a time that it was trying to sleet.  The town looks interesting to walk around and explore.  Our book  states that Hampton is "self described as the oldest continuously English speaking settlement
still in existence in the USA".  If you are ever in this area be sure to come and check out the area
Mandan Indians used this as a boat
you won't be disappointed.
Last seen shining before Monitor sank
Instrument panel of WWII Sub.

This 6ft sailboat crossed the Atlantic
in 85 days. Amazing!
