July 3, 2017

Well it was a great day, but a sad day too... we leave tomorrow! I don't know where the time went, but it seemed to fly bye and "Does Anyone Really Know What Time it Is"?

Upon waking up and seeing the sky I felt that my song today would be "Rainy Days and Mondays", however, I soon changed to 'Looks Like We Made It'!  We left Midland a little later than our Captain likes; we had to wait for the shop to open to dispose of our oil.  When we did leave we were faced with 'scary skies' (hence my song title).

The morning sky leaving Midland, Ontario
at 9:10AM on July 3, 2017. A little frightening to
think that the Colorado Cat and Us were heading
right into this!!

It turned out to be a gorgeous day, I actually do not think we had rain... I am so used to it that I forgot what a day without rain was like.

Alex and I were given a new job today, Chief Navigators! Penny bought a new map book (awesome actually) and we learned how to make sure we were heading in the right direction (I so didn't want to be blamed for landing in China)!

Navigators at Work! It takes two to
do the job of Penny!

We arrived in Parry Sound after 5.5 hours of clear sailing, as you can tell 'We Made It'!!  No locks only a few very shallow channels which our Captain handled like the pro he is; no major moments today!

One interesting thing was the 'orange' rocks.  Not sure why exactly but they are quite pretty.  Georgian Bay is the country made famous by the "Group of Seven", Canadian Painters, who painted in this region back in the 1920's and onward.  If you have never seen there work google them and compare their paintings to Penny's pictures!

Georgian Bay is known for the '30,000 Islands'.  Honestly I am not sure how you define an island as in some cases there were rock islands; so we decided if it didn't have at least 3 trees on it then it wasn't an island!

Here are some of Penny's Fabulous Photo's, they do not do it justice, but will give you an idea of what we saw

And now... I will say goodbye, goodnight and turn the blog back over to Penny.  I hope you all get to share some of this experience, it is truly Fabulous!  Thanks Jim and Penny for letting us share in your adventure.
